About Antimony Pentoxide Powder

Sb2O5 Molecular weight: 323.52, White or light yellow powder or particle, density1.5~2.0.  relative weight: 3.78; When heated up, first become Sb3O16,then become antimony quadoxide and then become antimony trioxide; slightly soluble in water and can make litmus paper turn red; slightly soluble in acid hydrochloride and calcium hydroxide; become white powder when combined with water; become waterless matter after heated. 


Reactions for Antimony Pentoxide Powder

When heated at 700°C the yellow hydrated pentoxide converts to an anhydrous white solid with a formula Sb2O13 containing both Sb(III) and Sb(V). Heating at 900°C produces a white insoluble powder of SbO2 of both α and β forms. The β form consists of Sb(V) in octahedral interstices and pyramidal Sb(III) O4 units. In these compounds, Sb(V) atom is octahedrally coordinated to six –OH groups.
