Traditional application areas
1. Pigments and concealing agents
Coatings industry: As a white pigment, it imparts high whiteness (L>98) and strong hiding power (>95%) to the coating while improving weather resistance (passing QUV-A 2000h test).
Plastics and papermaking: Increase the opacity (>90%) and anti-yellowing properties of plastic products; used for surface treatment of high-end paper to improve gloss and printability.
2. Ceramics and enamel
Glaze modification: As a light-shielding agent and whitening agent, it can improve the hardness (Mohs hardness ≥ 6), brightness (reflectivity > 85%) and acid resistance (resistance to 10% HCl solution > 24h) of the glaze surface.
3. Daily chemicals and food
Sunscreen products: Provide physical sun protection by scattering ultraviolet rays (UVA/UVB bands), and nano-scale TiO₂ (particle size ≤100nm) can avoid sticky skin feeling.
Food additive: As a non-toxic white pigment (compliant with FDA 21CFR73.575), it is used for whitening candies, dairy products, etc.

Emerging application areas
1. Environmental governance
Plastic degradation: The floating titanium dioxide material can be degraded under neutral conditions through the surface hydrophobic layer without the need for strong acid/alkali pretreatment, increasing the decomposition efficiency of polyethylene plastics by dozens of times, with ethanol accounting for 40% of the product.
Air purification: 5nm active nano-TiO₂ photocatalyst can decompose pollutants such as formaldehyde and benzene (degradation rate > 98%), and its action spectrum extends to the visible light band (above 400nm).
2. Energy Technology
Photocatalytic water splitting to produce hydrogen: Scandium-doped rutile TiO₂ increases the efficiency of photogenerated charge separation by 200 times, and the hydrogen production rate is 15 times that of traditional materials (under simulated sunlight).
New energy materials: used for lithium battery positive electrode coating to inhibit electrode side reactions and improve cycle stability (>4000 times @80% SOH).
3. Functional material modification
Antibacterial coating: Nano-titanium sol penetrates the substrate to form a dense layer, with a killing rate of >98% against E. coli and other bacteria, and performance degradation of <5% after aging for 5 years.
Highly weather-resistant building materials : Rare earth cerium-doped TiO₂ enhances the UV resistance of exterior wall coatings (UVA shielding rate > 99%) and improves freeze-thaw resistance by 50%.
Optical coating: High refractive index properties (nd=1.75-2.20) are used for anti-reflection coatings to reduce optical loss in laser devices (<0.1dB/km).
4.Specialty Industrial Catalysis
Chemical synthesis: As an olefin epoxidation catalyst, the conversion rate is >95%; in the photocatalytic water splitting hydrogen production system, it is combined with CdS to improve the hydrogen production efficiency.
