Beryllium Fluoride is a highly water-soluble Beryllium source for use in oxygen-sensitive applications, such as Be-Cu alloy production. Fluoride compounds have various applications in current technologies and science, from oil refining and etching to synthetic organic chemistry and pharmaceuticals manufacture. Fluorides are also commonly used to alloy metals and for optical deposition. As a mimic of phosphate, beryllium fluoride is used in biochemistry, particularly protein crystallography.  For its exceptionally chemically stability, beryllium fluoride forms a basic constituent of the preferred fluoride salt mixture used in liquid-fluoride nuclear reactors.
