By using unique processing methods and strictly controlling export products processing link, we can ensure that the important indicators such as sulfur content, moisture content, size and impurities are better than the user’s requirements.
- Silicon metal is extracted from quartzite, aided by the addition of wood chip and coal, in electric arc furnaces at temperatures of around 2,000 degrees Celsius. UrbanMines has another joint venture plant at Fujian Province, which is designed to produce ≥ 95% pure silicon metal from raw materials, that is, quartz and carbon; reactive coals with low ash content, wood chips, and a small amount of limestone. The plant obtains its key raw material quartzite primarily from the quarries in West Fujian Province and South Jiangxi Province China. However, the related logistical costs are more than outweighed by the advantages of electricity procurement from Sate Grid Corporation of China. And the dust emissions generated during silicon metal production are almost completely removed from the ambient air by high-performance filter systems installed in the plant. With silicon metal production at UrbanMines’joint venture plant powered entirely by renewable energy within near futhure, the overall CO2 footprint of the whole process is drastically reduced. Taken as a whole, therefore, the production process offers exceptional sustainability credentials. The vast majority of the raw material is converted into silicon metal, so the production process generates very few solid by-products. A small part of the raw material is also obtained in the form of slag.
- The history of UrbanMines goes back more than 15 years. It started with the recycling activities of nonferrous scrap and rare metals. We devote to reduce the volume of unrecyclable waste and makes it non-polluting by acting as coordinator between the discharging plants and processing plants. Leveraging a nationwide and Asian network, we collect native polycrystalline silicon materials, rare metal scrap and other valuable metallic waste and recycle them as raw materials.
