    Aluminum Oxide
Aluminum Oxide (Al2O3) is a white or nearly colourless crystalline substance, and a chemical compound of aluminum and oxygent.  It is made from bauxite and commonly called alumina and may also be called aloxide, aloxite, or alundum depending on particular forms or applications.  Al2O3 is significant in its use to produce aluminum metal, as an abrasive owing to its hardness, and as a refractory material owing to its high melting point.
